Whois Privacy Protection, occasionally also referred to as Privacy or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that hides the real contact info of domain owners on WHOIS check web sites. Without such protection, the name, address and email account of any domain name owner will be freely visible. Supplying false info during the registration process or altering the authentic info later will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain registrant losing their ownership of the domain name. The policies adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, demand that the WHOIS info must be valid and accurate at all times. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by domain name registrars as an answer to the increasing concerns about possible identity fraud. If the service is activated, the domain registrar’s contact details will be shown instead of the domain registrant’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domain names support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are certain country-code extensions that do not.

Whois Privacy Protection in Website Hosting

If you’ve ordered a website hosting plan from us and you have registered one or more domain names under your account, you will be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of them easily and to keep your private data intact. Of course, this will be possible only with the extensions that support this option. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll see an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol next to each of your domain names. Its color will show you whether a domain name is protected or not and in the second case, you can enable Whois Privacy Protection with just a couple of clicks of the mouse. In this way, you can secure your private details even if you have not enabled the service during the web hosting account activation procedure. You will be able to renew or to disable the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domains just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

Ordering Whois Privacy Protection for any domain name is unbelievably easy in case you have a semi-dedicated server. If the domain is registered through us, it will be listed in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel that is included with every semi-dedicated server package. If a particular generic or country-code top-level domain name supports Whois Privacy Protection, you will notice a tiny sign on the right-hand side of that domain. To activate the service, you will need to click on it. In the same fashion, you can also renew or remove the service. You can enable Whois Privacy Protection for a domain name during the registration process as well, but since the service is optional, we’ll offer you the opportunity to add it to any of your domain names at a later point in time if you think things over and decide to conceal your personal info from the public eye after you’ve already created the account.
