An Operating System is the fundamental software which controls a computer system. It takes care of how your hardware operates, the communication with peripheral devices such as a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between all the applications, plus the prioritization of applications when several run at once. Any program that is installed on a desktop or a notebook operates by sending requests to the OS for different services via an application program interface (API). The communication with the OS can be achieved using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the Internet hosting field, the OS is what runs a hosting server as well as any software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also every other application for example a VOIP or a game server. In case there are virtual machines created, they use a guest OS which is run on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server packages feature three Linux distributions which you can select from for the Operating System of your new server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being absolutely free, the OSs are extremely stable and protected and the reason to offer you all three of them is to ensure that you will be able to run every application that you'd like, because different pieces of software may have different requirements when it comes to the environment they can be used on. Each of the three OSs is supported by a large community of web developers who have created a large number of software packages that you can install and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System that you pick, you will also be able to select between three different Control Panels to take care of your website hosting content. Also, in case you decide that you need a new OS, we can always reinstall the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the OS for maximum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

In case you decide to buy one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the order page as we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on the machine as different apps could have particular requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and safe hosting service. Based on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System in case the one you have selected in the beginning does not meet the requirements of the software which you would like to run. We can also update the OS regularly to keep it as secure as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
